HEP Assignment
Assigning Home Exercise Programs (HEP)
As a remote therapist, you are responsible for creating, reviewing, and adjusting Home Exercise Programs (HEPs) for your patients. Depending on the clinic, some patients may already have HEPs assigned before they are added to your care.
List of available HEPs can be accessed through the HEP Library page located in the sidebar navigation menu on the left side of the platform.
Viewing current and previously assigned HEPs, as well as making adjustments, can be done directly from the Patient Dashboard.
Monitoring Patient HEP Engagement
Once a patient has been assigned an initial batch of HEPs, remote therapists are responsible for monitoring patient’s engagement with their assigned plan. This includes daily reviews of patient rating, pain level, and notes about their HEP programs.
If the patient has not engaged with their HEP in a significant amount of time (eg. 3-5 days), it is the remote therapist’s responsibility to conduct check-ins with the patient through the chat or call feature to encourage the patient to continue their HEPs.
Adjusting and Assigning New Programs
HEPs can be assigned to patients through the Patient Dashboard. Assigned HEPs may be adjusted at the remote therapist’s discretion. When making changes, be sure to consider the patient’s progress and current condition to ensure the HEP remains appropriate and effective.
Examples of why adjustments need to be made include:
- Low patient rating
- Consistently high pain levels
- Inability to perform the prescribe exercise
- Changes in patient condition (eg. development of new symptoms, improvements in ROM)
Tip: Creating a timeline of HEP assignments for each patient can help you plan which exercises to assign during different stages of the patient’s symptoms and recovery.
