What is Remote Therapeutic Monitoring?
In 2022, CMS introduced new CPT codes for Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM), allowing providers to deliver and bill for remote care services.
RTM enables providers to monitor patient progress between in-person visits using web and mobile platforms. Providers can collect key non-physiological data such as pain levels, mobility, and treatment adherence, giving them ongoing insight into patient status and helping improve care decisions.
Example:
A physical therapist assigns a home exercise program through the RTM platform. The patient completes the exercises in the mobile app, which tracks compliance, activity, and pain levels. The therapist reviews this data and adjusts the treatment plan as needed between visits.
PhyxUp Health
PhyxUp Health is an APTA-approved Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) solution that enables patients to receive continuous care between clinic visits. The platform provides clinics and providers with actionable insights into patient progress, symptom changes, HEP adherence, and other critical data points.
The RTM service consists of two main components:
- Web platform used by clinics and therapists
- Mobile platform used by patients
By using PhyxUp Health, therapists can keep patients engaged in their treatment plans while remotely monitoring their condition to support improved clinical outcomes.
For how to use PhyxUp Health as a remote therapist, refer to Job Expectations.
PhyxUp Health Mobile
The PhyxUp Health mobile app is available for download through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The mobile platform allows patients to upload data reporting on their symptoms, access to HEP videos, communicate with their provider, and track their own recovery progress.
Tip: Familiarize yourself with the workflow of the mobile platform to provide guidance to assigned patients as needed. You can do this by logging into the mobile platform using the sample account given to you during onboarding training.
